Embrace the AI Era ▏VIE Organization Watches Luo Zhenyu’s 2026 New Year’s Eve Speech

To broaden our horizons, grasp current trends, draw on wisdom and energy, and empower the company’s business development, on January 12, VIE organized a collective viewing of Luo Zhenyu’s New Year’s Eve speech video “Friends of Time 2026,” titled “The World 1,000 Days from Now.” Nearly 400 people attended the event in person, including all Party members, prospective Party members, and Youth League officials within the Group; members of the Group’s and VIE Technology’s management teams and heads of functional departments; YOUNG planning trainees; and Far-Flight program participants.

This learning session is centered around the guiding principle of “viewing with a strategic perspective, listening with the mindset of a climber, and reflecting with a firm commitment to action.” It aims to inspire participants to think critically about the new competencies that will be required in their roles going forward, identify new breakthrough opportunities amid industry transformations, and explore how to proactively integrate personal growth into the company’s strategy—thereby fostering a shared vision and collective synergy across the entire organization as we look toward the future.

In his speech, Luo Zhenyu pointed out that 1,000 days represent a timescale that is “both predictable and susceptible to disruption”—long enough to formulate a clear plan, yet short enough to witness the plan’s iterations and course corrections. This makes it an invaluable window for examining the future and strategically planning our actions. As the eleventh talk in the “Friends of Time” series, this session focuses on the path to survival and development in the age of artificial intelligence, drawing for the audience present a roadmap of the future brimming with both opportunities and challenges.

Addressing the widely debated issue of the relationship between AI and humanity, Luo Zhenyu clearly stated: “In the future, it won’t be AI that defeats humans—but rather those who know how to harness AI who will defeat those who don’t.” He emphasized that the essence of AI lies in “empowering humans” rather than “replacing them.” AI will continue to strengthen humanity’s material foundation, while humanity’s core value resides precisely in leveraging this foundation to pursue a higher quality of life on the material level and, on the spiritual level, to become authentic expressions of one’s own will and relentless seekers of innovative breakthroughs.

During the speech, a key concept for future talent—the “purple-collar” workforce—was profoundly explained. The so-called “purple-collar” refers to cross-disciplinary experts who not only possess deep expertise in their respective fields and are firmly rooted in frontline roles, but also skillfully leverage AI tools to tackle complex real-world challenges. They are not only the primary drivers of innovation in work models, but will also become a prominent beneficiary group in the AI empowerment process. According to projections, by 2035, China’s “purple-collar” workforce will exceed 31 million people, making it one of the most important emerging employment growth areas in the future.

The talk also introduced a three-tier model for the relationship between humans and AI: walking alongside AI (as a trusted partner), sitting beneath AI (taking responsibility for it), and running above AI (offering sophisticated solutions). It emphasized that humans should not compete with AI in terms of efficiency, but rather in terms of ideas, willpower, and accountability. In an era when AI’s logic and computational power far surpass human capabilities, humanity’s ultimate advantage lies in “willpower”—from historical great figures to ordinary individuals engaged in public-service initiatives, it is precisely willpower that has filled gaps and driven progress forward.

The on-site learning atmosphere was vibrant and immersive, with employees fully engaged and diligently taking notes. As they exchanged ideas and sparked new insights through lively discussions, everyone felt increasingly inspired. Most participants agreed that the presentation had cleared away the fog of uncertainty surrounding the AI era, giving them a clearer understanding of technological evolution and their own career development. Faced with the wave of intelligent transformation, avoidance and anxiety are pointless—only by proactively learning, embracing change positively, and making good use of available tools can we truly master this transformation. Many employees who watched the presentation remarked that, in their future work, they would strive to explore ways to leverage AI tools to boost efficiency, optimize processes, and tackle challenging problems. They pledged to drive higher quality and greater effectiveness in their work through digital thinking and a spirit of innovation.

As the tide rises in the East and the wind fills the sails, this learning initiative is not merely an intellectual awakening for VIE—it’s also a collective mobilization geared toward the intelligent era. Moving forward, VIE will continue to build high-quality platforms for learning and exchange, focusing on the application of AI technologies, the cultivation of future-oriented skills, and the development of versatile talent pools. We’ll actively foster an atmosphere of “proactive learning, bold implementation, and courageous innovation,” effectively translating enhanced awareness into tangible developmental results. Together, we’ll embark on the next thousand-day journey—a journey toward greater intelligence and resilience.
